Arteko gallery has started a strong commitment to adapt to the new times by implementing the latest technologies for the promotion of its artists. If the visits to online exhibition spaces began to normalize these days thanks to virtual reality, arteko has gone a step further by working with augmented reality. On the occasion of his participation in the “Festival Off” organized by PHotoEspaña 2020, Arteko presents a selection of photographs by the Korean artist Kyungwoo Chun in a virtual exhibition that combines these two technologies.
Kyungwoo Chun (Seoul 1969), shows a collection of eight photographs from the Light Calligraphy, Versus, and Miles series produced between the years 2004-2008.

K. Chun works with very long exposures in his photographs and uses portrait as a form of self-knowledge, a genre that helps him explore personal relationships more deeply and with which he achieves intriguing portraits and images that make us reflect on the relationships between individual existence and universal time.

PHotoEspaña is an international photography festival that takes place every year in Madrid during the months of June and July. This festival began in 1998 and has been growing and consolidating itself until becoming a reference event for the world of visual arts. Each edition is thematic and divides its programming into the Official Section, which includes museums, institutions and large exhibition centers, and the Off Festival, in which art galleries and other spaces participate. The heart of PHotoEspaña is located along the “Paseo de la Castellana”.
The exhibition can be physically visited in the gallery until 12 of June, however, it can be seen virtually during the PHotoEspaña Off festival that starts in mid-June and will remain open until the end of September. For his presence at the Festival, arteko has implemented an emerging technology known as augmented reality. The visitor will not only be able to walk through the room of Iparraguirre 4 from his sofa, he will also have the possibility to test the artworks on the walls of his own house before making a purchase. This technology with which the public has been familiarizing itself since 2016 with applications such as “pokemon-go”, is an innovative tool in the art gallery sector.
